The Regional Synod of Canada (RSC) is one of eight regional synods in the Reformed Church in America. We are part of the historic church of Jesus Christ and under his leadership; we recognize the Bible as God's holy, inspired Word to the entire world; we are empowered by the Holy Spirit; and we are eager to discover new (and old) ways to please God. The Regional Synod of Canada provides spiritual and practical leadership by shepherding leaders, congregations and classes.  We cast the vision of the Synod, coordinate new church developments and serves as a catalyst for congregation renewal.

Our Vision

The Regional Synod of Canada is called by God to mobilize the classes, churches, pastoral leadership, and laity into mission. Mobilizing for Mission will help transform God’s call and our dreams into reality. We mobilize the church by preparing the church and providing resources for mission. Mission is responding to Christ’s call to “Go and make disciples.” It includes:

• Deepening our own faith and commitment.
• Sharing the message of God in word and deed.
• Reaching out in love both locally and abroad.

Mobilizing for Mission will take many forms:

• Introducing a new discipleship process.
• Beginning a new church ministry.
• Planting a new church.
• Developing and sending out leaders.
• Providing people with opportunities to engage in mission.

Mission does not begin with what we do. Mission begins with changed hearts, and with people who want to serve God, glorify His name, and build His kingdom. Only then can we hear God’s call as we cast vision and discern how and where we will do mission

Sabbaticals

Effective pastoral leadership is crucial to our ministries. We provide funds to help pastors renew their passion for ministry learn new ways of ministry and listen to God.

One Body Ministries

Support this new multi-ethnic church. In 2011 we are growing as a church and helping people grow in Christ.

Weekly youth and children’s programs in a school on Wednesdays and the Friday evening sports night include study and prayer.

Welland Outreach

Christ Community Church is located in one of the neediest areas in the Niagara Region where everything must be done  believing and trusting that by God’s grace, Christ’s power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Cor. 12:9).

“Weekly Worship, Seven C’s Day Care, mid-week small groups, sports nights, Saturday night music jam sessions and facility care projects are opportunities to grow long term, mutually caring relationships with the community.” says Pastor Carson W. Culp.

Calling Lake

Athabasca Reformed Congregation reaches out in truth and love to the 600 persons living in a ten kilometer radius of Calling Lake, Alberta including a Bigstone Cree native reserve. VBS and youth outreach has been a key part of this.

Church Plants

Support new church plants as this is a most effective way of reaching people with the Good News. Two classes are planning new plants and will need support.

Church Revitalization

Support existing healthy and not-so-healthy churches which seek God’s vision to restore new vigour and life to their mission.

Missional Initiatives

These initiatives promote a missional mindset and missional ministries in our churches and members. Our missional clearing house “giveahand.ca” is being developed for completion this winter.

Social Justice

Louise MacRae, Debbie Van Hoeve and Morgan Ritchie represent us in partnerships with other churches to speak and act for justice for aboriginals, the poor and those cast aside by society.
