Decisions

1. Set up a missional task force (MTF) to “Prepare a report with recommendations to the RSC as to how we can promote a missional mindset and missional ministries within the Synod.” It would consider (but not limited to) the areas of communication, potential leadership retreats, resourcing materials and providing missional experience opportunities.

• The MTF would meet for a retreat and that further meeting could be held via conference calls.

• The MTF would include individuals with a missional mindset, younger individuals and those involved in missional ministries as well as some of our leadership. Our Executive Secretary will organize and facilitate the task force and we allocate $5,000 of MFM funds for the work of this task force.

• The MTF is to submit the report to the Regional Synod by September 15, 2010.

2. Approved a partnership agreement between the Northern Synod of the Uniting Reformed Church of South Africa and the Regional Synod of Canada to support HIV/AIDS initiatives of the Namakgale URC in the Mashishimale and Namakgale communities, subject to approval by RCA Global Missions, a more detailed budget and availability of funds. This includes the ongoing work of a feeding station, HIV/AIDS prevention training, a day care centre and home-based health care, as well as an addition/renovations to the feeding station.

3. Approved the reorganization of the RCA Foundation Canada in order to coordinate their work and meetings with those of the RSC AGM.

4. The RCA Foundation Canada approved amendments to the Rev. Jelle van Kuiken Memorial Scholarship Fund which make this endowment available to Canadian students who have been admitted to a program of theological studies with the intent of earning the Certificate of Fitness for Ministry as well as those studying at RCA Seminaries.

5. Affirmed the work of the Executive Secretary and affirmed that his call/contract is in affect until at least when he reaches 65 years of age. (October 1, 2010)
