Title - "There's a Superior Being but no God"
Topic - God
People today..want to be modern and everything new and different from the older generation, thus, some people who are denying God, the Church, and the Bible, do admit and believe there is a Superior Being, Higher Power, or "Something up there". To them it is a new theory, but really they are just giving God a new name.
Why couldn't this Superior Being and the God of the old Christian faith, people have been communicating with since the beginning of time, be the same person? These so called "atheists" also limit the powers of their new found discovery, The reason they admit to His existence, is because they can see it takes something really fantastic and superhuman to be able to place, organize, and control our bodies and all that surround us. We, in our little human world, are used to a beginning (birth), an ending (death), used to flesh, blood, bones and solid touchable objects; We are used to a certain degree of vision, and a certain range of hearing. We are used to an average size in humans. We are used to a certain degree of intelligence. We are used to a certain style of getting around and used to being glued down by gravity. We are used to breathing and eating to stay alive. We are used to being able to hate and hurt and make mistakes. Because of our limited knowledge and experiences and our little routine world it's hard to imagine anything different or more powerful than us. And then again when you say to a person who believes in a Superior Being that their Superior Being sees all, hears all, created everything, can do anything, has been forever and will be forever, is everywhere, knows all, and is perfect, the Immediate response is, "No, nothing can do all that".
There is so much to know about the Superior Being or God. These people that cast aside religion, but can see evidence of God are really denying themselves the fabulous truth. It's like seeing a zebra, knowing it exists, but denying it's a zebra and giving it a new name when there's a book that tells all about it ' a book written by people who have written down the how, when, where and why's found through past contact with the animal. And that brings us to the Bible.
"The Bible, is old stuff, out of date, a book of myths." People may say that but they don't see that their history books in schools could be classified as myths too. There is no proof that the people you see pictures of and read about actually did what they did or even existed. You accept it. And so the same goes for the Bible. It's a book of ordinary humans with ordinary hang-ups such as hate, love, envy, and sex. Yes, people like you and I. It's just that they lived-in a different era. Therefore, they related what they saw and heard in their old-fashioned way, with their limited knowledge and limited visual smiles.
Besides being a history book that goes the furthest back, it's also a book that tells the future (many of the prophesies have already come true). It is also a book with mottos and wise sayings for comfort, strength, and mental aid; a book of lessons or experiences of other people that we may learn from and, also a book of information which tells us all about the Superior Being.
The miracles described in the Bible are often stumbling blocks to the doubting toms, but look at it this way; that Superior Being has revealed himself to us humans. It's evident that there is something controlling our environment, but why couldn't God put a kink in or upset or change or create something extra (scientifically unexplanable) along with the normal organization of nature; to prove a point or shock us into realizing that God is? All those miracles God performed: to free thousands of His people from the strong captivity of the ungodly Egyptians, He brought the plague of frogs, flies, the water turned to blood, the deaths of only the oldest in each family, the parting of a huge lake to make a dry pathway and others; Mary's virgin birth; water turned to wine; the healing of the hopelessly sick; Christ's walking on the water, and His becoming alive after being dead for 3 days. If He's superior, why couldn't He have done all this.
Lastly the church is considered old and right out of it. That's true and again the old stuff is out. Weill, I'll put it this way; schools are becoming modern and some already are. But don't forget, though the building, the teachers, the equipment, and the teaching methods are modern, . what they teach is old! The history is old, art is old - its all old! It was taught and used by our parents, their parents, and so on. Schools are there to teach us and help make educated people. All that's pumped into us was all discovered by an old world person. Aren't we lucky when we consider the fact that we were taught how to multiply and add and don't have to start from scratch trying to figure it out by counting each one to get an answer? The same goes for the church. It teaches you about God, what He wants of us, that He loves us, tells about His kingdom, the future, and much more based on the Bible. People before our time found and became fully aware of that Superior Being, know all about Him and passed their knowledge down to us through the Bible and the church. They are there to teach you about the Superior Being, certain people just realized was there.
So if your big thing is trying to be new, consider that the Bible says, "There is nothing new under the sun"', or realize it's really a waste of time trying to be different or new. You'll only end up banging your head against the wall or walking around in circles, no matter how big the circle, you always end up at your starting point, either that or a spiral going further and further away from fact and getting nowhere. Everything around us has always been there, it's just up to us to discover it, or rediscover it. So take advantage of what's been discovered, such as the Superior Being we've known about for ages.
God loves us and wants us to love each other and isn't that the modern thing today: love. Well
again they're just going around in a circle, straight back to God where love generates. If you are
one of these people who believes in just a Superior Being, then just as in school get a book that
gives you the information about Him or talk to those who know Him personally (clergymen,
ministers priests) and find out what a superior being He really is.
