It is a pleasure to have the opportunity to serve the Classis of Ontario as Youth Director. I look forward to meeting all of you, but until I can, let me introduce my family and I to you and tell you a little about ourselves.

I was born in northwest Iowa to a family of five. I have three sisters and a brother. My wife Jane has two brothers. They moved around a lot while Jane was growing up, but always within Iowa. So she claims all of Iowa as her home.

Jane and I were married on June 9, 1984 after dating nearly five years. In the spring of '85 I graduated from Northwestern College in Orange City. Jane and I then made the move from rural Iowa to Pasadena, California, where I attended Fuller Theological Seminary, and she worked for Focus on the Family. Southern California was a real change for us and we enjoyed our time in the L.A. area, but we also realized it was not where we wanted to live out our lives. This feeling was multiplied when Curtis was born on May 23, 1989. Things started happening fast about that time. Apart from Curtis' birth, I graduated June 9, 1989 and we moved to Kentucky on the 14th of June. It was a hectic time for us, but God blessed us with help from friends and relatives.

In Kentucky, I served my first year as an intern to complete my seminary requirements. Then in the summer of '90 I started as Camp Director and have been doing that ever since. During our time in Kentucky we have had two additions to our family. Andrea was born March 6, 1992 and John was born May 6, 1995. Curtis was so glad the new baby was a boy because now all the boys have their birthdays in May.

As we begin to work and to serve the Lord with you we ask that you keep us in your prayers. We want to see your children and the youth in your churches come to know Christ as Lord and Saviour, but we can only do that if we pray. The battle is not one of flesh and blood, but spiritual in nature. I and my family look forward to serving with you.
