Title - Where Will The Gay Lobby Stop?
Topic - Homosexuality
(In this article, I will occasionally use the word gay, not because it is a true description of the homosexual lifestyle, but for the sake of convenience. I will also use the short form homo instead of homosexual, including lesbians, for the sake of brevity.)
"Court backs gay couples" blazed the headline in the Vancouver Province of September 4. "Same-sex spouses win right to medical coverage." The B.C. Supreme Court Justice who made the ruling, Anne Rowles, stated that respect for the individual person means respect for the unique and diverse character of every person. She ordered the B.C. Medical Services Commission to include same-sex couples in its definition of spouse.
According to surveys, a mere 1% o f homosexuals say that they have 1 - 2 sexual partners during their lifetime. An astounding 45% of them say that they have 500 or more different partners during their life time.
"In their newspapers and magazines, homosexuals openly proclaim their intention to destroy traditional American society -our families, our churches, our deepest religious beliefs." - U.S. Congressman Wm. Dannemeyer
'Preach the truth, namely that homosexuality is a tragedy." - Dr. John White, Psychiatrist
The CRTC Scare
Late this spring, I received word from Focus on the Family that the CRTC, the agency regulating radio and TV in Canada, was considering to make it impossible to speak critically about homosexuality on the air in Canada. CRTC Public Notice 1991-53 referred to its responsibili@ to prevent what it called abusive commentary on radio and TV. in Canada. It failed to make any effort to distinguish between hate language and views offensive to the homo community. Those views would include reading from and commenting on the relevant texts of the Bible on the subject of homosexuality.
I immediately wrote the CRTC stating, among others, ...unless the CRTC publicly safeguards the right of religious groups to present their understanding of what their holy books teach on one of the great moral issues of our time, it will open itself to the charge of interfering with the constitutionally guaranteed freedom of religion in Canada. Apparently, the CRTC was surprised by the outpouring of mail on the subject, overwhelmingly critical of its announced consideration. To my knowledge, it got cold feet, at least for the time being.
As I considered a Canada in which a Christian could no longer address the Gospel to homosexuals on radio and TV., the thought came to me: Where will this all lead? Where will the gay lobby stop? If you bear with me, I will try to deal with these questions in a few articles.
There IS a Gay Lobby or Look who's coming for dinner!
It is necessary to understand that we are not dealing with a loosely-organized, somewhat carefree (gay!) minority group, but with an intense, revolutionary movement that burns with zeal to achieve its goals on every level of society. Homo's are among the most highly organized, most powerful, and best financed of political pressure groups in North America. Their determination to change society is second to none. Their strategies and tactics have been carefully planned and executed for a decade and a half. Their success has been phenomenal. Their agenda is frightening. There seems nothing on the horizon to stop them!
The homosexual rights movement is barely 25 years old. Its beginning can be dated back to the Stonewall incident in New York City in June 1965. Then and there, the movement became militant. It has never looked back!
In its short history it has won almost every battle it fought. It has initiated a staggering number of legal actions, often supported by tax money. With every victory, its agenda has become more radical. It now has effective lobbying power, if not control, in the world of politics, education, the media, the courts, the medical establishments, the arts, the entertainment industry, the civil rights movement, the feminist movement. It has sold a morally-confused public on the right of homo's to express their sexual orientation unhindered. It has managed to convince civil rights advocates that, like women and blacks, homo's need special protection. It has turned the perceptions of three decades ago on their head by moving from queer to gay, and shrewdly shifting those who oppose their lifestyle from straight to homophobic. It has rolled the heavy burden of being abnormal away from itself and unto its opponents who think that same-sex is wrong. In the process, it has managed to divide the church! Not bad for a silver anniversary!
As an illustration of how far the movement has come already in mesmerizing the general public, consider the North American Man-Boy Love Association, one of the myriad homo offshoots. NAMBLA promotes just what it says in its name: sexual love between adult men and young boys. Its announced political goal is the elimination or radical change of the age-of-consent laws. One of its slogans: Sex before eight or it's too late. Boys, they argue, have as much right as adults to engage in consensual sex, and only a repressive society would prevent them from enjoying the pleasure of sex at the earliest possible age. Outrageous, you say! Indeed, 30 years ago they would have been lucky to escape being lynched, as even hardened criminals couldn't stand child molesters. Today these deviants can march unhindered in our streets during the annual gay and lesbian pride weeks parades. They still make most citizens nervous, but they now enjoy the blessings of the civil authorities and the protection of the police. NAMBLA symbolizes the progress the gay lobby has made over a mere 25 years in achieving its agenda.
Agenda of the Gay Rights Movement
Hold on to your seats - this is a wild drive!
Let's be reasonable. Let's grant the movement the right to express its point of view, to be a mutual support group, to call attention to genuine cases of discrimination. But it's much, much more than that. It has specific and very radical, short and long term goals.
The agenda has gradually expanded, keeping pace with the growing acceptance of the phenomenon of homosexuality and the success of more limited campaigns. The following is a summary of what is on the agenda. Many of the goals have already been partially or totally achieved.
1. Convince the public of the homo myth:
- that homo's are born that way, and that all other explanations of homo behaviour are unscientific and should be past debate. - that homo's constitute some 10% of the population. - that homo orientation cannot be changed.
- that homo's deserve the support of the larger community because their rights have been trampled on.
-that those who oppose homo lifestyle are ignorant, prejudiced, and against civil liberties. A major sub-goal here is to make the term 'homophobic' a dreaded description of all who dare raise objections on scientific, moral or religious ground.
- that homosexuality is a normal, healthy and desirable variant of human sexuality.
Sub-goal: not merely acceptance Of homo as normal, but official approval and commendation of homo behaviour.
- that homosexuality is not a problem but something to be celebrated (hence: Celebration '90: the Gay Games in Vancouver). - that homo's living together are really family partners; this means a redefinition of the family, to include homo relationships.
2. Obtain the support of the major institutions of society: the media, the politicians, the bureaucracy, the courts, the medical establishment, education, entertainment, major industry, major labour, the church.
3. Make open sexual promiscuity acceptable conduct in the eyes of the majority. Destroy the traditional sexual morals of our society.
4. Convince the government of the need to give millions of tax dollars to homo action committees and support groups.
5. Convince the legal and medical communities that the most important objective with respect to AIDS is not the protection of future victims, through protective measures, but the protection of current victims from potential persecution by the community at large.
On the basis of the foregoing radical shifts in public perception and institutional support, achieve the following radical changes in the legal traditions of our country:
1. Decriminalize homosexual acts
2. Establish legal right to homo acts.
3. Extend privileges of status of marriage to same-sex relationships.
4. Obtain legal permission for homo's to marry.
Sub-goals: the right to adopt children; the right to file joint income tax re' turns.
5. Eliminate or radically change the age-of-consent laws, so that children can legally participate in sex acts.
6. Make it illegal for employers (including schools) and service/charitable organizations (including churches) to refuse employment to known homo's.
7. Force employers and service/charitable organizations to hire, or accept volunteers, from the homo community on a quota basis (so-called affirmative action)
e.g., Boy Scouts to recruit a percentage of scoutmasters from the homo community; same for Big Brothers.
8. Require public schools, by law, to teach sex education which gives equal treatment to hetero- and homosexual behaviour.
Sub-goal: to have the relevant part of such courses taught by homo's.
9. Establish the right, by law, to place ads promoting homo organizations and activities in newspapers and magazines of choice.
10. Change the Criminal Code to make it a crime to attack homo activitv in any way (including verbal attack).
Sub-goal: make motive rather than behaviour the crucial factor.
11. Change the Criminal Code to make it a crime to refuse housing accommodation to homo or lesbian couples, even if done on the basis of principle.
12. Exempt AIDS carriers from standard health procedures with respect to communicable sexual diseases, namely mandatory testing and contact tracing.
Sooner or later, all of the above is to be translated into a comprehensive Gay Rights Bill (or whatever name). Such a bill would guarantee the full social acceptance of homosexuality as a viable, healthy, normal life-style, on a par with heterosexuality. It would apply affirmative action to homo's throughout and would put on notice every government institution (including the military), business, shop, school, and service organization that homo's must be hired regardless of the moral or religious convictions of the employer. This would include churches and church institutions that receive tax breaks of whatever kind, including enrolment of students that receive government study loans or grants.
In Canada, the New Democratic Partv has already gone on record that it is in principle committed to such a gay rights bill. Some prominent members of the Liberal Party have indicated likewise. In the U.S.A., in the 1988 presidential election campaign, all Democratic presidential candidates signed a statement supporting a gay rights bill!
