Emmanuel Bible College Changing The World - One Student At A Time Emmanuel Bible College, one of Ontario’s premiere evangelical Ministry training institutions, is committed to changing the world one student at a time. Our mission is to provide Bible-based post-secondary education equipping women and men to think, live, and serve as mature Christians in the Church and in the world. EBC is Education From its beautiful wooded campus in Kitchener, Ontario, EBC offers AABC accredited certificate, diploma, and degree programs through in-class and Independent Study to students representing more than 25 denominations. We are a recognized member of the Association of Canadian Bible Colleges and have been training our students to serve for almost sixty years. Emmanuel has been chartered by the Province of Ontario to grant Bachelor degrees in Religious Education, Sacred Music, and Theology. With an experienced and committed faculty, Emmanuel’s model of education combines challenging in-class instruction with supervised ministry placements and internship opportunities. The in-class instruction is based upon a high regard for truth as it is found in the Scriptures, academic disciplines, and upon professional knowledge and skills. Integration of all that is learned with deepening faith is valued and practiced in our courses. The Field Education/Internship program provides students with the opportunities they need to gain ministry experience and to be more employable upon graduation. Placements and Internship opportunities include working in a mentor-guided Pastoral or Youth Ministry, participating in short term mission assignments, helping with social service agencies or drop-in centres, taking on student leadership opportunities, and much more. Emmanuel Bible College offers degree programs that include Pastoral and Church Ministries, Youth Ministry, Missions, Counselling, Music, Music and Arts in Ministry, General Arts, and Biblical Studies. In addition, we offer a two-year Diploma in Biblical Studies, and three shorter certificate programs: Mountain Top, Encounter, and Lay Counselling. EBC remains on the cutting-edge with each of these relevant programs. Our latest innovative development is the Encounter Certificate. It has been designed for mature people seeking a renewing experience and a chance to study God’s word intensively. Running for its eighth year, the Mountain Top program continues to be a catalyst for recent high school graduates as they consider their future while being stretched intellectually, spiritually, and relationally through biblical study, Christian thought, and discipleship. Now the largest program on campus, Counselling Studies, is graduating ministry leaders for church placement, para-church service, and Master’s level training toward professional Counselling. Music and Arts in Ministry has been designed in response to the growing need for leaders who are able to integrate theology and the arts and to provide worship leadership in a church setting. And we can’t forget about our Pastoral and World Mission programs, which have been the heartbeat of Emmanuel since the college was founded in 1940. Each of Emmanuel’s degree programs provides entry-level training for as-early-as-possible ministry and job appointment. A high percentage of our graduates move from our community into pastoral, para-church, and other ministry positions in Canada and around the world. Others continue their studies in seminary master’s programs, college graduate programs, or at university and community colleges where they receive significant transfer credits from EBC. Emanuel continues to open up opportunities for our graduates. We have established relationships with several institutions of further education, including other colleges, universities, and seminaries. Forging roads for our graduates in satisfying ministry, other work, or further study is an important part of our mandate. In addition to full-time study opportunities, EBC provides many ways for life-long learning. We regularly offer seminars and workshops for lay leaders and those already in full-time ministry. Our course schedule is flexible for those who wish to study with us part-time. Block scheduling opens the door of full-time study to students who need to balance work, family, and ministry responsibility with their education. We offer evening courses, extension courses, and Independent Study courses, making it possible for those at a distance to learn with us. EBC is Community Through Chapels, Focus groups, lectures, seminars, days of prayer, evangelism, sports teams, student council, concerts, and other events, student life experiences are life-changing. The Chapel program and our new Focus Group format continue to provide opportunity for spiritual formation. We believe in shaping people by opening them to a deeper relationship with God. Students continue to say that God makes, breaks, and molds them while they are immersed in study, practice, and leisure. Matt Gibbons, a 1999 graduate now serving with Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship’s Urbana program, described his experience this way: "At EBC it’s more than just an academic exercise, or a tradition just based on the past—it’s a passion that permeates the school and truly impacts your life." Students tell us that the friendships made here last a lifetime and that it was the people they met who made all the difference. In a small and vibrant community, relationships among peers and between students and faculty are the norm. With classes as small as ten students and professors who care about who you are, mentoring is often a significant part of one’s experience. It has been said that people cannot help but grow here if they are open to what God is doing. Kamie Mantle, a Counselling Major, tells us this: "At EBC I’ve learned how to truly rely on God. Through Emmanuel, God has equipped me with the spiritual strength I need to continue my journey with Him." Emmanuel Bible College, by God’s grace, is changing the world one Matt and one Kamie at a time. Why not join us?
