Title - What The Fool Said

Topic - Mediation

In Psalm 14: 1 we read: "the fool hath said in his heart, There is no God". This verse intimates that believing in God is not so much a matter of piety as of common sense. In fact we do not even need the Bible in order to convince us that there is a God.

Nature proves the existence of God. Just take a microscope and look at the smallest form of life everywhere there is order, and purpose and perfect beauty. Or take a telescope and turn it to the stars an the moon again you will find law and intelligence. It all proves a mighty Creator of the universe in which we live.

Perhaps you have heard the story of the Arab, who was guiding a Frenchman, an unbeliever, across the desert. Now and then the Arab would spread his mat on the sand and kneel down and pray. That irritated the Frenchman, and once when the Arab got up from his prayer, he said to him: "How do you know there is a God?" The Arab replied: "How do I know that a man and a camel went past over tent last night? I know it by their footprints in the sand. You want to know how I know there is a God. Look at the sun - Is that the footprint of a man ?" That was a good reasoning of the Arab.

Many years ago David sang already: "the heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament showeth his handiwork".

You can find God's signature in every muscle of your body and in every hair of your head if you are only willing to look for it. There is not a being, nor a leaf, nor a flower but it bears the marks of God's hands.

No wonder that the Bible states that only the fool hath said in his heart: "There is no God". And yet, how many fools there are in this world! How many people there are, who, although they do not openly deny that there is a God, yet completely ignore Him and do as if He does not exist. How many thousands there are, who refuse to obey the claims of our Creator!

God commanded us to keep the Sabbath Day holy, but never has there been so much Sabbath-breaking all around us! God commanded us to go to church on Sunday (Hebrews 10: 25) but the empty pews in many churches prove that many give a plain denial to the just requests of God.

Only the fool ignores God and His Word. Let us rather give the claims of God a fair consideration. Thus saith the Lord: "Consider your ways".
