Title - The Armour of God

Topic - Women

(Ephesians 6: 10-18; NIV)

Paul talks to us about our position in Christ, and the necessity to put it into practice. He says,

"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might." (K.J.V.) From this verse we see that all the power of heaven is at our disposal, that is, to everyone who knows Jesus personally and is willing to walk in the army of our Lord.

Every piece of the spiritual armour is needed, because of the nature of the conflict as described in vs. 11 and 12. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness in this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. We are admonished to put on the whole armour of God, so that we will be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Thus we can choose: either we desert our rights and weapons that are available to us, or we are willing to be dressed with the full armour of our Lord, and make Him our Captain. "Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth..." (K.J.V.) Since Jesus is the truth and the way, we are to put on the Lord Jesus Christ and the truth of the gospel; -and put on the breastplate of righteousness, not our own righteousness. Isaiah 64: 6 tells us that all our own righteousness are like filthy rags. We can only put on the righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ, when we are born of His Spirit, because only that is righteousness; and having your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.

And above all taking the shield of faith, wherewith you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. You know how the people protected themselves with shields in those days, when going out to battle. In the same manner we have to protect ourselves with the shield of faith, wherewith we shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. It says here that we shall be able, only because Jesus has made all these things possible, by the finished work on Calvary. Praise His wonderful name!

Then Paul goes on to tell us to take the helmet of salvation; it is available to all who come humbly to Him. We also are to take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. When Jesus was tempted by the devil, all He responded with was, "it is written", and He went on to quote scripture. Satan must flee when we respond in faith, in the strength of the Lord Jesus. Vers 18 tells us to pray always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching there unto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.

Do we really realize the power of prayer? We are told to pray in the Spirit, for it says in Romans 8: 26 that the Spirit will help our infirmities, that is our weaknesses for we know not how we ought to pray, but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. It is my deepest desire that God would raise up men and women who are willing to have the Holy Spirit pray through them, and by doing this they will be praying in the perfect will of God, because the Holy Spirit will direct your prayer according to the will of God, for He knows what is the mind of God. God will cause us to pray for things which are closest to His heart, especially for the salvation of all mankind. Churchgoer as well as unbeliever. For it is for that purpose that He sent His precious Son to die on the cross. But praise God, He arose again and He is looking for men and women to be soldiers for Him: Let us all take our position for the glory of God!
